Junior Achievement is very active across our Northland. Nearly 4,000 K-12 students are impacted by JA's traditional and capstone programs each school year. These programs have enabled students through out our public, charter and parochial schools to experience hands-on curriculum on financial literacy, entrepreneurship, career development and workforce readiness. Students are gaining valuable life-long skills in personal and professional finances; career pathing; business development and implementation; leadership; teamwork and group organizing; and much more.
Due to the significant need for financial literacy within our community, schools are increasing sequential JA programming within their classrooms, districts such as the Duluth Edison Charter Schools have adopted JA district-wide, programming is expanding in neighboring Itasca and Carlton Counties and new programming such as Finance Park Online, JA Titan and others are being introduced into the community. As this demand continues to grow, we are very much in need of community volunteers to assist in teaching our curriculum. If you are a local business person and have five hours to spare over the course of a year, we could very much use your support as a volunteer. Please contact BreAnn Graber, Duluth Board VP, at

Programming is made available through the significant generosity of the following foundations: MN Power Foundation, Blandin Foundation, Duluth Superior Area Community Foundation, Lloyd K. Johnson Foundation, Northland Foundation, Ben and Jean Overman Charitable Trust. In addition, funding for JA in the Duluth area comes from business, civic, individuals, and special event fundraisers. Our special events include: Uncorked-Wine Tasting & Auction (February), Battle of the Bands at the DECC Arena (April), JA Golf Scramble (June), and the JA BigBOWL (September).
The Duluth Area office is located in the historic Board of Trade Building in downtown Duluth. Office hours vary so it is wise to call prior to coming down to the office. Our building is connected to the skywalk and parking is available on both 3W and 1W. A 20+ member Board of Directors made up of business and community leaders provides guidance and support this this office. Current board president is Shawn McLaughlin of the Holiday Inn & Suites and current board vice-president is BreAnn Graber of the Duluth News Tribune.
