JA in a Day

What is a JA in a Day event?

Go back to school for a day during one of our JA in a Day events. A team of volunteers take over a local elementary school as mentors and role models to students, leading fun games and activities that help prepare students for a successful future. Activities are age-appropriate and teach important financial literacy, entrepreneurship and career readiness concepts in a fun format where the students often don’t even realize they’re learning!

Junior Achievement’s elementary school classroom programs consist of a series of five 30-45 minute lessons. The lessons help students explore careers, understand money management, and learn about entrepreneurship. Each of the five JA lessons have a fun, hands-on activity to help students understand the grade-appropriate concepts.

One or two volunteers facilitate the lessons in their assigned classroom. The teacher remains in the classroom to support and handle classroom management.

All five of the lessons are delivered back-to-back in one morning. The total time commitment is approximately four or five hours depending on the grade level and the start time of the school (8 am – 1pm is typical).

With a minimal time commitment, volunteering can work with your busy schedule! To learn about upcoming JA in a Day volunteer opportunities, complete this short volunteer interest form and we’ll get back to you soon.
