JA BizTown

take a tour imageJA BizTown is a 10,000 square foot kid-sized city within Junior Achievement headquarters in Maplewood, MN. Several weeks of classroom learning culminates in a day-long visit to this fully-interactive simulated free market lab where students become adults for a day. By working in one of 15 JA BizTown shops, students learn what it takes to run a successful business, manage a checking account and work as a team. Through daily lessons, hands-on activities, and active participation in this simulated community, students develop a strong understanding of the relationship between what they learn in school and their successful participation in a global economy.

Our experience at JA Biztown provided a virtual experience that helps students explore their passions and purpose. Students are engaged in learning that is collaborative with their peers and it allows them to reflect on their strengths and to see how they can contribute to this amazing world.” – Ken Essay, Dakota Meadows Middle School

JA BizTown was first introduced to the Minneapolis/St. Paul market on October 16, 2001. Only 25 markets in the world provide this incredible opportunity for students to experience a real-world, hands-on application of their classroom learning. To keep our lessons relevant, we’ve added STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) careers to JA BizTown.

Your child can also experience JA BizTown through our summer camp program. JA BizTown Summer Camps teach kids about STEM careers and entrepreneurship in a fun, interactive environment.
