Group – JA Job Shadow
Volunteering with JA Job Shadow
JA Job Shadow prepares high school students to be entrepreneurial thinkers in their approach to finding and obtaining a job. Through this experiential learning program, students will acquire and apply the skills needed to succeed in demanding and ever-changing workplaces. Each year, approximately 7,700 students participate in JA Job Shadow.
Volunteers serve as role models for a group of students who visit their place of employment. Through this on-site experience, students learn first hand the importance of soft skills in the workplace (dressing and speaking professionally, being on time, teamwork, problem-solving, etc.).
- A typical on-site visit is four hours. Schedules are customizable based on the company’s needs
- Pre-event preparation is required of the Site Coordinator to become familiar with the learning goals and purpose of the JA Job Shadow program
- Minimal preparation is needed for day-of volunteers
JA Job Shadow takes place at the sponsoring business. The business will host students on site during the school day.
JA provides all the training and materials you’ll need to be prepared, including a JA Job Shadow Site Coordinator and Host Site Visit Guide.
JA Job Shadow is part of JA’s high school curriculum. Students are in 9th through 12th grade and come from schools throughout the Twin Cities metro area.
